The BMW X2 offers just a single engine choice but with varying outputs: A 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine making 241 or 312 horsepower. The 7-speed automatic transmission, the only one available on the X2, cracks off shifts in the blink of an eye, sending power to all four wheels.
The BMW X2 comes in two all-wheel drive trims xDrive28i and M35i. The xDrive28i comes equipped with 19-inch wheels, a leather wrapped steering wheel with controls for the cruise control and sound system, a rearview camera, automatic climate control, cruise control, heated front seats, LED headlights, Bluetooth, a 10.7-inch touchscreen, integrated navigation, and a 7-speaker sound system.
The M35i adds paddle shifters, a sport suspension, painted calipers, black exterior accents, 20-inch wheels, a 12-speaker sound system, wireless device charging, and sport bucket seats.
Standard safety features across the lineup include front and rear parking sensors, lane departure warning, blind spot warning, forward and rear collision mitigation, and a front pedestrian detection system.

After a redesign in 2024 the BMW X2 rolls into 2025 with minimal changes.
The BMW X2 is positioned between the automaker's small X1 SUV and the larger X3. With its low starting price, the X2 defies direct comparisons. The Porsche Macan has a similar sporty design but is priced well above the X2. The Mercedes GLA features similar crossover styling and pricing is competitive, but the Mercedes makes less power and does not feature BMW's performance pretensions.
